Takashi Yoshimasu Presents at 2026 Epi in Action

Hawkins Lab master’s student, Takashi Yoshimasu, MD, MPH, presented a research poster at the 2026 Epi in Action poster session, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh Department of Epidemiology.

Yoshimasu’s poster, “24-Hour Time-Use Behavior and Maternal Depression During Early Pregnancy,” drew on data from the Optimizing Health From Pregnancy Through One Year Postpartum (HABIT trial). He examined how time use is associated with depressive symptoms during pregnancy.  The results showed no association with depressive symptoms; however, the research highlights the future direction of novel statistical methods on time-use behaviors.

The Hawkins Lab traveled to Baltimore for the 40th Annual Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies (SLEEP 2026) in Baltimore.

Dr. Marquis Hawkins presented, “Feasibility, Acceptability, and Preliminary Efficacy of Sleep GOALS: A Pilot RCT Targeting Sleep, Diet, and Physical Activity in the Postpartum Period.” This work displays his findings from Sleep GOALS, a pilot study examining the effectiveness of sleep interventions in post-birth health.

Christina Personette, PhD Student, Clinical Psychology, presented, “Chrononutrition and Perinatal Mental Health: The Relationship Between Food Intake and Prenatal Depressive Symptomatology,” in her research, she examined how the timing of food intake relates to depressive symptoms during pregnancy.

The SLEEP annual meeting is an event that brings together the world’s leading experts, offering opportunities for knowledge sharing, networking, and discovering advances in clinical sleep medicine, sleep and circadian research, and sleep health.

Congratulations to Dr. Hawkins and Christina on sharing their work and representing the lab at SLEEP 2026!
